Mycotoxins semiannual survey of mycotoxin in feed in 2023 Taiwan

In the first half of 2023, Life Rainbow mycotoxin analysis lab collected 141 feed samples of raw materials and feed mills in farms and analyzed them. The survey provides essential information on the feed pollution situation of Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, and G2), Zearalenone, Fumonisins (B1, B2, and B3), and deoxynivalenol (DON) in Taiwan. All the samples were analyzed using ELISA Mycotoxin analysis kit.
Results:
141 feed samples were collected, and 80.1% were contaminated with Fumonisins and 69.5% were contaminated with Aflatoxins (table 1). The maximum concentrations of Zearalenone, Fumonisins and DON were over the limit of quantification in this survey.

Data on corn meal, nursery, and pregnant diets were collected to give the prevalence of mycotoxins. Out of a total of 141 samples, 30 samples from corn meal were analyzed that observed feed was contaminated with 70% Fumonisins, whereas the maximum of positive fumonisins exceeds the detection limit (table 2).

Of 22 samples of nursery feed collected, and analyzed the feed samples were contaminated with 90.9% Aflatoxins and 72.7% contaminated with DON (table 3).

The occurrence of mycotoxin in a pregnant diet was also analyzed and found that Fumonisins and Aflatoxins were the most prevalent mycotoxins in pregnant diet, detected in 87.3% and 85.5% of samples respectively. (table 4).

Conclusion:
In 2023, the most prevalent mycotoxin exam in the feed samples in Taiwan was Fumonisins and Aflatoxins, 80.1% and 69.5% respectively.

To prevent mycotoxins' appearance in grains and cereals, the effective method is to avoid mold infection and population formation during grain growth to ensure that the harvested grains are clean and healthy. If the harvested cereals are contaminated, it is necessary to regulate the storage conditions to stop the expanded contamination scope. Mycotoxin-contaminated feedstuffs will raise the risk of impacting animal production and economic profit. According to the regional survey, feed manufacturers and animal producers can be aware of the occurrence of mycotoxins and implement actions for mycotoxin management.

Life Rainbow Biotech has researched mycotoxins for 17 years and developed an enzyme-type mycotoxin degrade product: Toxi-Free PLUS®. Toxi-Free PLUS® has three different special activity enzymes to degrade various types of mycotoxins and reduce the toxins' effect—reducing animal hazards. Adding Toxi-Free PLUS® to the feed use as a daily care product, can protect the farmed animals and reduce the damage caused by the mycotoxin making the animal live more comfortably and increasing the farmer's profits.
